Are you opening up adoptions?
We are excited to be opening up adoptions for animals by appointment! You have been so patient, keeping an eye on potential new family members and awaiting the chance to meet with them in the hopes of taking them home! We are so grateful for your understanding.
As with the below services, to adopt an animal you must call 970-226-3647, ext. 0 and make an appointment. We encourage you to see who we have up for adoption here and come to your appointment with one to two animals in mind who you would like to visit with. If the animal you were interested in adopting is no longer available, just give us a call and we will remove your appointment.
Because of the pandemic, we are unable to give adoption-area tours and accept holds on animals.

Appointments, appointments, appointments
Limiting the number of people inside Larimer Humane Society allows us to provide essential core services, while also protecting our staff and clients. To ease the flow of people into the building, we have implemented an appointment system for all services. To schedule an appointment for any of the below needs, call 970-226-3647, ext. 0.
- Search for your lost animal – If you are missing your pet, please call to file a lost report right away. We can facilitate visits for you to see if your lost pet is here by appointment.
- Surrender an owned animal – If you feel safe to keep your animal with you, and have the resources to care for your pet during the safer-at-home order, we ask that you consider delaying your surrender to a later date.
- Bring in a found animal – We encourage individuals who find animals to file a home report and keep the animals in their homes if possible.
- Access end-of-life services to alleviate the suffering of a companion animal.

Protect yourself and Larimer Humane Society staff
Whether you are coming into the building to look for your stray dog, or to adopt your new feline family member, please help us keep staff and other clients safe. We ask that every client who comes to Larimer Humane Society wears a facemask and observes the 6-foot social distancing guideline.
Larimer Humane Society also provides hand sanitizing stations throughout the building that can be used during your appointment to help stop the spread of germs.

Time to go VIRTUAL!
This year, Larimer Humane Society’s annual Fire Hydrant 5K and Paws on the Promenade Expo is going virtual! Fire Hydrant 5K is one of the most coveted events for pets and their people across Larimer County, and this year marks the event’s 30th anniversary!
Because of COVID-19, we have moved this popular fundraiser to a fully virtual event, but you can still expect all of your favorite parts of the event to continue! Registrants will receive the commemorative event t-shirt and the opportunity to raise funds for fun pledge prizes. The event goodie bag and Paws on the Promenade Expo will still be available as well – this year virtual! And you can safely feel connected to your community by walking or running the 5K at the time and location of your choosing (or register to “Cat Nap” and sleep in for the cause!), all while helping animals without a family to call their own.
Early bird pricing is available until Sunday 4/26, so click below to register or learn more! https://www.nocohumane.org/blog/fire-hydrant-5k-is-going-virtual/

How can you help right now?
Thank you for your interest in supporting the animals and our staff during these difficult times! We don’t yet know how extensive our needs will be as a result of the pandemic. To ensure we may respond at a moment’s notice to support the animals in our care, monetary contributions are our greatest need at this time. Please click here if you are able to help animals in this way.
Do you have other offers for support? Please share them with us here! If we can utilize your resource – now or in the coming weeks/months – we will connect with you directly. If we do not respond to your offer, please know we are still deeply grateful for your generosity.
Due to the nature of the situation, we are not accepting in-kind drop-off donations (such as food or supplies) at this time. You can support Larimer Humane Society by purchasing items off of our Amazon Wish List and have them shipped directly to Larimer Humane Society. Thank you again for your support!
